New Delhi Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy on Monday accused the Law Ministry and government law officers of wrongly advising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to wait for evidence before deciding on sanction to prosecute former Telecom Minister A Raja in the 2G spectrum case.

“It is regrettable that law officers of the government had failed to apprise the PM of the law of the land that he must decide on the sanction question only on the material provided by me,” Swamy, who sought Raja’s prosecution, told the Supreme Court in his nine-page affidavit, submitted to the court’s registry.

The Prime Minister’s affidavit to the court on Saturday had disclosed that the Law Ministry had advised him to wait for the CBI to gather the oral and documentary evidence before deciding on the question of prosecuting Raja.

“The Prime Minister made independent inquiries on the substance of my material provided in these letters, which is against the judgements of this court,” Swamy said.

Absolute honesty and intergity are the assets of Manmohan Singh and nobody has any doubt about it. But that is not enough for the high post he is holding. He must see that his collegues in the cabinet are free from corrupt practices and they are punished properly if they are found to be corrupt. Sorry to say that he has miserably failed in this duty.

As far as Mr. manmohan concern there are only 2Gs, Sonia "G" & Rahul "G". Regarding Mr. Swamy, he got what he want or more than what he expected. We all know about him and his intention. He is ready to do anything to any extent for the sake of money. He is the one of the reason for the current Tamil Nadu dirty & corrupt politics. He treat himself as the Harichandra now. Once upon a time he was the political broker. Govt. want to avoid the JPC at any cost else the parda from the face of big shot like Sonia, Rahul etc. will fall. If they are not involved in this scam, they will dfly ready for the JPC to black mail DMK. Since the top congress leaders are also involved in this and got the sahre of profit, Karunanidhi is black mailing them.

Smelling the rat in 2G Spectrum by KS Raghunathan on 22 Nov 2010

Giving sanction to prosecute is one thing for which Law Ministry wants evidence (like someone wanting to first find the cause of a towering inferno, rather than first trying to douse the fire.) But what has prevented the PM from sacking Raja for so long. As a Financial wizard, he must have smelt the rat in the 2G Spectrum much before CAG or anyone else.

Politions have special rules? any takers by Ameet on 22 Nov 2010

Swamy and BJP is confusing the issue by rajkumar on 22 Nov 2010

Well remember governments takes policy decisions time to time in order hasten or lower the developments. It applies in all areas so that a good social order is achieved. In the case of 2G we are hearing the following; 1. Loss to govt based on assumptions on the amount of 3G sold for a better price. Question: Without 2G growth and telecom growth how would 3G really sold. This model of estimating previous prices without taking into account we started with nothing is not correct. 2. Companies we got 2G spectrum at low cost sold it off to foreign companies making big profits. Question: Government should act on this and make sure all the monies are recovered. Licenses are given with good faith so that business grow and also country grows. But we see illegal dealings here and the government should act. 3. The minister who was in Charge Mr Raja has been asked to leave, even before a probe started. The government should not yield an inch. The opposition should see proper reason.

2G Spectrum and PM by Manilal on 22 Nov 2010

There should be a clear involvement and conscious of Prime Minister in regarding the malfunction of 2G Spectrum. If he says, he doesn%u2019t know, Mrs. Sonia should have the responsibility and clear knowledge of this. With out Sonia nothing will happen. We need a clear investigation with the suspension of Sonia Gandhi.

Loot by Utham on 22 Nov 2010

Every information leads to part of Rajas loot landing somewhere in Italy. Arest that women Sonia first ald prosecute to get the truth out.Do it now....

Not a U-turn by Sudhirb on 22 Nov 2010

It is not a U-turn. After PM's reply/clarification to SC on delay, Dr. Swamy is giving his views. He is accepting PM's reply as Law Ministery is responsible for delaying the sanction to prosecute Raja.
