The budget gives more stress on roads, water supply and infrastructure projects in the city. The projects include the flyovers on Ghodbunder Road, the new parking plaza in the city, road widening at Vitava and construction of a flyover at Mumbra station. Besides, a portion of the budget has been allotted for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
Rs 3 crore has been allocated for the beautification of Masunda lake which is considered as a landmark of the city. An amount has also been allocated for development of the creek.
What may come as a relief for Thaneites is that the TMC has not increased any tax this year.
