Islamabad, June 18: Women and school-going girls in a town in Pakistan's troubled North West Frontier Province have been warned by the Taliban to either abide by the "Islamic dress code" or face action.

Pamphlets asking women to wear burqas were circulated in the small town of Billaybang near Kohat city. They were also seen pasted on the walls of mosques in Billaybang.

The Taliban, who have blown up several music shops in Billaybang in the past week, have asked women to strictly observe the "Islamic dress code" or face consequences.

Women have also been asked to avoid visiting market places without a male escort, TV news channels reported.
