Ludhiana, January 11 Jagdev Singh Talwandi, former president of SGPC, today said he would like to see Sukhbir as the Chief Minister of Punjab. He said this while addressing a gathering during the inaugural function of Amar Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Inter-state Bus Terminal today.

Referring to his old age, Talwandi, a senior Akali leader, said he would like see to Sukhbir as the Chief Minister in his lifetime. Interestingly, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who was also here to inaugurate the bus terminal, remained non-committal. He said, “I do not want to say anything in this regard.”

When asked if he though Sukhbir was the right candidate for the post of the Punjab Chief Minister, he said, “I do not want to say anything in this regard.”

Commenting on the relations of Captain Amarinder Singh, former chief minister, and Pakistani journalist Aroosa Alam, Badal said, “Politicians do not have a personal life. The public draws inspiration from leaders.” In half-jest he added, “I think they are bringing India and Pakistan closer.”

The Chief Minister said after panchayat elections, District Development Committees would be constituted and these would be the replacement of District Planning Board, as per instruction of the Centre.
