"Ford is committed to focused negotiations at a more detailed level with Tata Motors concerning the potential sale of the combined Jaguar/Land Rover business," said Lewis Booth, Ford executive vice president with responsibility for Ford Europe.
"There is still considerable work to do and while no final decision has been made, we will proceed with further substantive discussions with Tata Motors over the forthcoming weeks."
A source familiar with the matter said earlier on Thursday that Ford was set to name Tata Motors as the front-runner to buy Jaguar and Land Rover.

This deal will be a huge setback fom Tata. These brands are loosing out for quite a while to Japanese companies in EU and USA.

Good point Satyendra. It is being said in some quarters that thismove by Tata will give them a brand name in Europe that they can leverage to enter the European market. However I see problem here because the band positioning of Jaguar (upscale) does not corelate to what Tata's cars (affordable car for budget customers) www.linkedin.com/in/chezprakasam
