“Though there were some hiccups in setting up the plant, now work is in progress and the problems have been resolved. I am confident that the small car will be rolled out by Durga Puja, which is a very important festival for us,” Sen said.
Durga Puja is celebrated some time in October-November.
During his three-day visit to Mumbai, Sen met Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Ashok Leylands Ashok Hinduja among others to invite them for making large-scale investment in West Bengal.
During the recently held auto show in Delhi, Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata unveiled Nano, the world's cheapest at just Rs 100,000 for the base model. He had said that the car will be commercially launched later this year.
The people’s car, designed with a family in mind, has a roomy passenger compartment with generous leg space and headroom, where four persons can comfortably travel together.
Sen also had a discussion with Mukesh Ambani on the possibility of bringing gas from Krishna Godavari basin to West Bengal for domestic and industrial uses and for setting up gas-based industrial plants in the state.
He also invited Ambani to explore the possibility of participating in the deep-sea port, which is being set up in the state.
