Teach kids with love, says Canadian MP

Ludhiana, January 8 Canadian MP Dr Ruby Dhalla today said that she believes that all children mistakes, and it was necessary to treat them with love and respect. She was speaking about yesterday’s incident, in which the policemen who were part of her security cover beat two children for stealing the purse of an NRI woman accompanying her.

“I think children make mistakes and they should be taught with love. They should be given love and respect. I will take a look at the whole matter,” she said, when asked if she would ask the police to withdraw the FIR that had been lodged against the kids in the case.

Dr Dhalla is the MP from Brampton, Springdale, in Canada. She was in the city to attend a function at SDP College for Women. She also interacted with the students of SDP educational institutions. She asked the students to materialise their dreams and visions through hard work, positive attitude, and staying on the right path.

Answering the queries of the students, she said that India has enormous opportunities, potential and intellectual power, and very soon it will be a super power.

Dr Dhalla was accompanied by Seema Bhayana, an alumnus of the college and daughter of late Om Parkash Gupta, former MLA and president of the College Management Committee. She was accorded a cordial welcome by president of the college Balraj Bhasin, S Verma, Director, Principal Dr Geeta Bhandari, members of the management and staff.

The students, attired in Punjabi costumes, decked in traditional jewellery and singing Punjabi folk songs, received the chief guest and other guests of honour accompanying her.

After a formal introduction with the members of the management, Dr Dhalla paid a floral tribute to late Om Parkash Gupta.
