While no case was registered on Monday, local leader Raja Tiwari lodged a complaint against the teacher on Tuesday and submitted a CD as “evidence”. The police, however, called the CD “doubtful”, terming the case as a “conspiracy”.
Late in the evening, the police registered a case against Tiwari, another local leader Ravi Raj Patnayak and 50 others for rioting and other offences.
“The CD says little against the teacher,” Bastar SP Ratan Lal Dangi told The Indian Express. According to him, the CD shows fa girl, with her face covered, alleging that Patnayak had been molesting girls. Dangi said the girl did not say if she was a victim too. “Her identity is not clear. Before taking any action against the teacher, we have to first establish who she is and whether the CD is genuine,” he added.
Patnayak, according to the people, took private tuition classes where he allegedly 'sexually abused' his students, threatening to fail them in exams. Over a hundred people gathered in the school on Monday, ransacked its premises, beat Patnayak and principal Mathew Kunnel.
A seriously injured Patnayak was rescued only after police intervened. He is admitted in the intensive care unit of a local hospital.
