Chandigarh, July 14 The “tech-savvy” Chandigarh Administration appears to have lost its sheen in regularly updating the official websites. This is particularly true in case of the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Corporation (CITCO) website. The site serves “incomplete information” that is also three-four years old.

Various annexes mentioned under the Right to Information Act head of the CITCO website carry incomplete and old information.

For instance, Annexure 2, wherein the powers and duties of the officers need to be mentioned, it mentions only the delegation of powers in the website.

As per the provisions of the Right to Information Act, the authority needs to be specific about disseminating information. But it seems that the Administration is quite sceptical about sharing information.

Another glaring discrepancy on the website is the number of officers and employees mentioned in two different annexes.

While Annexure 10 puts the number at 1094, Annexure 11 says the number is 1101.

While there are details of 1094 employees’ salaries on the website, the administration has not posted the salary details of seven of its employees who are missing in one of the lists.

The budgetary details of the Chandigarh Administration, under Annexure 11, are almost three years old. It seems the claims made by the administration are falling flat with such discrepancies existing on one of the most prominent department’s website.

In fact, CITCO’s website carries information about the proposed 2004-05 budget with no mention of the budgetary allocations or expenditures incurred from the year 2004 till date.

When asked, one of the senior officials said, “We shall get it checked. But the information is regularly updated on almost all the official department websites.”
