Ludhiana, February 26 The mass clearance drive by the tehbazari branch of various zones had a minimal effect as most of the encroachments removed by the teams were back in no time.

While the branch staff claimed all temporary encroachments from Clock Tower area near the AC market under Zone A were cleared, it was business as usual at these areas after the teams left.

At the Jalandhar bypass area, the team under superintendents Omparkash, Pawan Sood and Prem Bhatti, zeroed in on nearly 70 rehris and even removed temporary shelters set up in numbers along the roadside.

In Sherpur, the team cleared encroachments in the Sabzi Mandi, Metro Tyre and Kanganwal Road areas. Slums were also cleared from these areas as part of the drive.

Under Zone D, temporary encroachments were removed from Ahluwalia Road near Aarti Chowk and Haibowal. Seven scooters were also impounded from the service lane near the Bharat Nagar Chowk area.
