Mangalore Ten suspected activists of Sri Ram Sene have been taken into custody on charges of assaulting customers of a pub in the busy Balmatta Road in the heart of the city.

About 15 to 20 activists, reportedly belonging to Sri Ram Sene, barged the pub late last night and assaulted boys and girls dancing there, IGP (Western Range) A M Prasad said.

Prasad said the attackers alleged that the pub owner was allowing the boys and girls to dance in an ‘obscene manner’.

No damage has been caused to the pub in the incident, he added.

Religion freaks by Jitendra on 12 Feb 2009

Everybody has free will, why impose your thoughts on other people, and people blabbering about indian values, listen up, you are having point of view which you think is right like people should react this way or that way etc, but why you want other ppl to behave according to you ??i am a boy but i strongly criticize this gender inequality, previously boys used to go to pubs with no probes but now women have started so why everybody have problem now ??and from religion or spiritual point of view, in every religion its a crime to force some oneto behave in a particular way, he will himself learn what is right or wrong, you are no god to tell him how he or she should react.these people are jobless, narrow minding retards, really shame on them.

Jai Shri Ram! by Jayadevan on 27 Jan 2009

Bharatiya Sanskriti cannot be allowed to be defiled by these Westernised youngsters. Let them go to America if they want to drink and dance. After all, this is not Mumbai, this is Karnataka where we worship Yellamma and dedicate hundreds of girls every year to prostitution, where we threw acid in a low-caste girl's face when she wanted to go to college.

bharatiya sanskriti by Sonia on 28 Jan 2009

Bharatiya Sanskriti doesnt allow guys to wear trousers, why the 40 shriram sena men were wearing trousers. They should wear lungi.

CULTURAL POLICE ANTICS by Niranjan on 26 Jan 2009

I HAVE A SIMPLE QUESTION TO THE RAM SENA: WHO DIED AND MADE YOU GOD'S MESSENGER TO KEEP THE CULTURAL VALUES? NO ONE, BUT NO ONE, HAS THE RIGHT TO TAKE LAW IN ONE'S OWN HANDS. EVEN IF THE PEOPLE AT THE PUB WERE DOING ANYTHING WRONG OR ILLEGAL, PROPER AUTHORITIES SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED. THE SO CALLED CULTURAL OR MORAL POLICE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO TASK FOR TAKING LAW IN THEIR OWN HANDS AND SHOULD BE PUNISHED SEVERELY SO THAT NO OTHER GROUP DOES THIS KIND OF ACTIVITIES.

Moral policing by Siva Kumar on 26 Jan 2009

The Sena has no right to act as moral police. But does it suit the Indian culture sending the girls to pubs in the late night to be free for all. Do we have to be so liberal as in the west.Even the weserners are fed up of drinks and dance and coming back to spiriuality.

Shri ram sena by Rahul Agrawal on 25 Jan 2009

Shame on Shriram Sena - They are not hindus, they are terrorists. go join the army and fight for your country and not like this. I am a hindu and do not approve of anything like this. These people use God's name is such a shameful manner that even God Ram would be Ashamed for their deeds. Very vey disturbing. For centuries hindus have been overpowered by others just because they fight within themselves.

Humiliation by street urchins by utpal bhowmick on 25 Jan 2009

guys caught should be thrased in public. These middle class lower minded people have their own wild idea.sick in mind.Proper thrashing in public will stop others from having such wild idea of entering pub and beating educated people.Pub owners should have strong security .all girls injured by thugs should sue the pub owner for humiliation from street urchins.

Barbarism against women in India in the 21st century! - Part 2 by Sujeet Ramanna on 25 Jan 2009

This kind of barbarism against women in India in the 21st century has to be met with an equally stringent law, that the people involved in acts such as these will serve atleast 5 years of unbailable rigorous imprisonment. No political party can be allowed to be associated with such acts. And a notice has to be served by default to such political parties by the election commission, that another such attack by party workers or organizations associated with party will be suspended if in power and will not be allowed to contest elections for the next two terms. This will set the fear among people belonging to such organizations or parties not to try such stupid, barbaric things in the future! When will this country become a better place for the women to live in?!!

Barbarism against women in India in the 21st century! - Part 1 by Sujeet Ramanna on 25 Jan 2009

Unbelievable!! In 21st century India. While this has happened, Mr. Yeddyurappa has maintained a stoic silence. Whats even more unbelievable is that there are two right-wing terror organizations like the Ram Sena and the Bajrang Dal fighting over taking credit for these terror attacks. Just the same way, terror outfits like Al-Qaeda, IM, Taliban sometime fight over taking responsibility for these attacks. But i really understand the stoic silence of Yeddyurappa. Its because he has let the goons of hindu terror group, that BJP patronizes a free hand in doing all these things. He pretends ignorance, but he knows everything that is happening in his state, the way these goons were involved in polarizing people along religious lines, by attacking churches. Yedda banke peda khata hai!

RAM SENA ANTICS by Niranjan on 25 Jan 2009

I HAVE A QUESTION TO THIS SO CALLED MEMBERS OF THE 'RAM SENA'': WHO DIED AND MADE YOU GOD? WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO ATTACK ANYONE WHO IS NOT FOLLOWING THE 'ÇULTURE'' AS DEFINED BY YOU? ALSO, WHO DEFINED THE CULTURE THAT YOU ASSUME IS THE RIGHT ONE? THIS IS A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY AND ANY PERSON HAS THE RIGHT TO ATTACK ANYONE, EVEN IF HE/SHE IS BREAKING THE LAW. IF ANYONE IS BREAKING THE LAW, LET THE POLICE HANDLE IT. NO ONE SHOULD TAKE LAW IN HIS/HER OWN HANDS. SHAME ON YOU SO CALLED 'RAM SENA''.
