Jaipur Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expanded his Cabinet to 23 members by inducting ten more ministers -- two Cabinet and eight state ministers -- on Saturday morning at the Raj Bhavan in Jaipur.

Governor S K Singh administered the oath of office to Jitendra Singh and Rajendra Pareek as Cabinet-rank ministers.

Those inducted as state ministers include Babu Lal Nagar, Ram Lal Jat, Amin Khan, Mangi Lal Garasia, Bharosi Lal Jatav, Pramod Jain Bhaya, Ashok Bairwa and Gurmeet Singh Kunar, an independent MLA.

Sources in the Congress party said that Gehlot plans to divest himself of some the portfolios following the expansion. The Chief Minister presently holds 38 portfolios, including Home, Finance and Taxation, Energy and Urban Development.

By expanding the state Cabinet ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the Chief Minister has managed to accommodate Rajputs, Gurjjars, Jains, SCs, STs, Meenas and Muslims in his council of ministers.
