The Shrine Board has asked Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Board’s chairman, that no pilgrim be registered without being photographed and fingerprinted.
The Board has sought permission to install biometric scanning systems at the registration counters. “This is to avoid fake registrations. Anyone can fake their identity at the moment, but once we have the fingerprints and photographs with us, that won’t be possible,” said Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Board.
“The move is part of a broader plan to improve security at the shrine. We have already installed 18 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the shrine complex, and we will put up another 22-25. Cameras will be set up at guest houses too. Besides upgrading security, they will improve our administrative functioning,” Diwedi said. The upgrade comes in the wake of an alert to the Shrine Board saying the shrine was under increased terrorist threat.

As already there is a mess of having darsan parchi/security check at main entrance at Katra during week ends/festivals this will further add to mess for darsans as we are regular visiting think thousand time before taking such decision. Some practically system should be installed so that minimum hardship to be faced by common manJAI MATA DI
Rather than just providing security , let us try to uproot the core issue - terrorism by Pak.Pak , a failed sate should be finished
It will increase the rush and time taken for darshan. It will also increase the hardship to the people coming for DArshan. THe proposed system should not be implemented. Some practical alternate system will have to be evolved.
The idea seems good to hear but very difficult to implement. currently one of the member of the family goes to registration counter for registration slip but with starting of fingre-printing each and every one will have to go to the counter. Just calculate the time for taking the fingre print of one person and then calculate how many person can be registered in one hour, that will not be more then 100-150 persons per hour, then how will the shrine board take care of approx 10000 persons visiting the great holy place practicaly every day. It is not possible.
ITS VERY GOOD IN INTEREST OF GENERAL PUBLIC IMPLEMENT THIS AS FAST AS U CAN
Congratulations Sir. I like the action you have taken in increasing security concerns. I request our government to have such kind of biometric security installation spread across my motherland India. These terrorists will have to think a 100 times before they think of anything.Jai Ho. Bharat Mata ki Jai.
