Mumbai Here is good news for art lovers and connoisseurs lamenting loss of precious artifacts and paintings that adored the iconic hotel Taj's interiors for years in last week's terror attack.

Renowned artist M F Husain, whose three paintings were pride of the lobby of the heritage hotel for last eight years and destroyed during the terrorists' 59-hour siege, has announced he would paint fresh ones for the hotel.

"I have decided to paint a series of paintings condemning the attack. I am sure someday the Taj will regain its glory and I hope to show these paintings there," the nonagenarian painter told a newspaper here from Dubai.

"It would also be my personal tribute to Taj staff members who laid down their lives for others," he said.

Husain also had a word of praise for the Tatas, owners of the Taj.

"He (Tata Group chief Ratan Tata) and his father Jamshedji have always been great patrons of art and culture. I laud Tatas for what they have done for the nation while most other businessmen have only been interested in furthering their interests."

Merely contemplating the damage caused to artifacts and interiors of the hotel sends a chill down the spine, the painter said.

"The Taj has so many paintings apart from mine. I shudder to think what has happened to them. The Taj is the only hotel in Mumbai which has given so much importance to modern art," he said.

Taj Mahal Hotel Destruction. by Rudolph.A.Furtado on 02 Dec 2008

Akin to " Holy Old Jerusalem" , the Taj and Oberoi hotels along with Leopold Cafe could become symbols of Modern India's survival of rennaissance against "INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM" and become a pilgrimage centre for tourists.Sincere request is to create a seperate room as a "Museum" in these hotels for reminding furture generations of "Wednesday 26-11-08" and to honour the dead.Life goes onn,and we Mumbaikars should learn to make our city safer and more beautiful post Wednesday 26-11-08.

Keep away this womenizer from India. This womenizer should not be allowed to do anything in India. His only wish is to tarnish the image of Hinduism which he makes sure in all his paintings! Let him stay where he is, let him to the place he belongs to, PAKISTAN.
