The declaration adopted by the organisations at a meeting in Deoband on Monday, however, also criticised attempts to malign Muslims and madrassas.
The Anti-terrorism Conference organised by Islamic Seminary Darul Uloom in Uttar Pradesh's Deoband town was attended by clerics, scholars and religious leaders from several sects and groups across the country.
"Islam is a religion of mercy for all humanity. Islam sternly condemns all kinds of oppression, violence and terrorism. It has regarded oppression, mischief, rioting and murder among severest sins and crimes," said the declaration, adopted by over 10,000 participants.
"Islam prohibits killing of innocent people," it said.
The conference, however, expressed its deep concern and agony on the present global condition in which most of the nations are adopting an adverse attitude towards Muslims.
"It is a matter of greater concern that the internal and external policies of a country are getting heavily influenced by these forces," it said.
The gathering also condemned attempts to implicate Muslims and particularly religious institutions for terrorist acts.
"The disease (terrorism) has been diagnosed in a wrong way. Whenever there is any incident of terrorism, every possible attempt is made to link it to Muslims and particularly who have studied in madrassas and some religious institutions. This is totally wrong," said Adil Siddiqui, Public Relations Officer of Darul Uloom.

Atlast the Muslim clergy in India has woke up todeclare the incotrovertible truth that Islamic Terrorism is a reprehensible oxymoron.
Muslim groups have done well by condemning terrorism as un-Islamic. It is a great beginning. They should convert the madrassas into institutions of great learning, just as Christians have done. It will not only prevent Muslim youths from restricting themsleves to religious learning, but also expose them to advanced learning. Other communities will also join such institutions of learning. Others also can come to know more about Islam, getting rid of the biases.

The satnd taken now by Deobands was long overdue but even now, though dealayed,deserves to be welcomed by all right-thinking people of this country. But the charge expressed in the meeting that the Police are arresting persons only on accout of their being Muslims is deplorable as this charge villifies the police adminstartion with the charge of partiality. Instead of making such wild charge, the Muslim leaders should meet the arrested suspects and urge them to distance themselves from the terrorist oufits operating in this country underground and getting financial and strategic support from forign elements. They should also note thata the arrested persons can be punished only after their guillt is established in Courts, where enough opporunity is given to the accused to prove their innocence.
The stand taken now by some Muslim organisations against terrorism was long overdue, but even now this action has to be welcomed by all sections of the society. But one sinister charge expresed in the meeting is that the police are arresting people only because the suspect is a Muslim. This charge indirectly villifies the police adminstration for partiality. The Muslim organisataions instead of making such serious charge should meet and the arrested persons and urge them to distance themselves from terroist gruoups working in India undeground with the financial and strategic support from foreign elemnts. The Muslim organisation must know that the suspects ca be punished only after their guilt is established in the court after giving adequate chance to the accused to argue for their defence.
Without doubt it must be realised first and foremost that the Almighty CREATOR created Man from Clay and Water and breathed LIFE into him; then from this Man's rib HE(the Creator) created Man's partner - the Woman. The rest of the Human Race - i.e. every Human Being - the Dead, the Living, and those who are yet to be born into the world HE created by procreation through conception. When this is realised then we (the Human race) will realise that we are not enemies to each other but brethren in Creation. Only then will we understand that our real enemy is the Satan as has been openly announced time and time again by the Almighty Creator to us.This will automatically stop all forms of feelings to snuff out the life of our fellow human brother.The decree by the scholars of Islam at the Deoband meeting, although delayed, is still very welcome.

This is very good. Why is it that these Muslim groups took so much time to adopt this decleration. Islam has always been the religion of peace and its message is Universal. Islam is the religion of truth and it teaches the practical way of life. The Muslims of India and world should come together and adopt such decleration. The next step will be to find resolution of all the world problems affecting Muslims and Islam by peaceful means. Islam should invite all the people and intellectuals and scholars from different faith to have a dialogue on the true meaning of Islam which is peace and brotherhood.They should take up issue of publishing of cartoons of our prophet with the European Union and make them understand that it hurts our feeling when they do such act. Islam and its people hv never shown disrespect to the prophets and rishis of other religion. As Quran teaches us to respect all the prophets and rishis send by God, they should also learn to respect our Prophet. We as Muslims have big responsibility of projecting our self as trustworthy and righteous people on this earth as our Prophet was. Our Madarrassas which are incorretly projected as breeding ground of terrorist should also correct their attitude and method of teaching so that no religion or community points fingure on them.
