New Delhi "Before I could reach there, the terrorists who had attacked one of the hospitals, the Cama Hospital, had left and those who attacked the railway station had also left," Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil said.

Patil, who briefed the Cabinet on the situation in Mumbai, was giving details to media about his visit to the city after terrorists struck there.

He said after the terrorists, who attacked Cama Hospital, ‘left’ the police chased them and killed one of them and injured another.

Patil, who condemned the attack as an act of cowardice, said the country would remain strong even as the terrorists attempt to weaken and create difficulty for the citizens.

The Home Minister had condoled the loss of lives, including top ranking police officers, in the attack and said their sacrifice would inspire the rest of the force to do their duty more resolutely.

MADAM'S Parrot by Indian1 on 27 Nov 2008

The terrorists left the place because they know that Mr. Shivraj Patil will catch them and take them to his MADAM. They are afraid of Mr. Shivraj Patil.

Terrorists left before Patil reached by Mahendra Kumar Sharma on 27 Nov 2008

What more does the media expect from him? Why does it take him seriously at all? And then heap his inanities on its readers or listeners? Or does it take pleasure from his inanities to relieve itselft from the serious business of collecting and diseminating news by sharing his inanities with its readers and listeners? Does it lose any news content if it just ignores him? Will readers and listeners miss anything? Will they not feel relieved if they are spared this infliction from the Home Minister through media?

Shirvar Patil has no shame by satyen on 27 Nov 2008

Isn't the standard satetement from Shirvarj Patil. Is he just going to keep on condeming without taking any concrete actions? Even if he would have reached on time what would have he done? what was his plan? To shoot at the terrorist or sacrifice his own life?

Perhaps they were afraid of you. Would you have caught them if they were there? Please let us know what you would have done them? By the way, where is the other Patil, also the president of India? And where is PM for muslims doing? is he having a sound sleep now? where his madam hiding now?

Unfit Patil by BB Nayak on 27 Nov 2008

I was shocked to listen Mr Patil in one of the channels refering his attack as " Accident" in which the ATS chief died. Probably according to him these attacks are chance occurence. He has got home ministers position as a reserved candidate on "age and state" criteria and not by his merit. What else we can expect ? All the best for last few days of you and your party.

Terrorism by Ishvr Deepak on 27 Nov 2008

It's time to get your act together, Mr.Patil. You're parroting the same rhetoric time and again after every terror strike. With you at the helm, terrorism is rearing its ugly head at will. It's not an act of cowardice, it's an audacious mockery of the security systems in place. Failure to bring situation under control even after almost a day of the initial strike is despicable. As reports point out, in spite of credible warnings about an imminent terror strike, the troops were unprepared and had to pay the price. Rather than resorting to retrospective actions, it's time to preempt such daredevil mindless massacres. The media is equally to be blamed, as it was streaming live coverage of the moves of the security forces which gave the terrorists a great way to plan their moves. It's really a shame that such attacks are committed and makes us feel insecure that no place is safe enough to be. No doubt, this entire episode sure has far fetched consequences both political and economic.

Your score is 65, Mr.Patil by Yogesh on 27 Nov 2008

Mr. Patil, this is probably the 65th time you are talking about the "cowardly act". And as it is, what were you going to do if you were to reach the terror sites while they were there?

Terror attack in Mumbai by Tapas on 27 Nov 2008

The terror attack in Mumbai is a final nail in the coffin on India's Democracy. This situation arised because of the incompetencies of congress govt both in the center and the state. Further more due to the incompetent and useless Home Minister at New Delhi. While his counterpart in the state is wasting time and energy in useless activities like closing the Dance bars, chasing the dance girls, chasing the druken drivers, cigratte smokers at public places, etc while leaving all important job of intellegence gathering and maintaining law and order in the state the least priority.I feel both should be sacked and held responsible in court of law.
