Mumbai, February 5 Two days after the police claimed to have busted an alleged gay party in the Yeoor hills, the case seems to be reaching a dead-end.

“We were investigating the case on the lines of a possible cyber crime, but we think even that can be ruled out,” said DCP (Zone V) Bhujangrao Shinde.

The Thane police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gay party before it could be commence and arrested six people for drinking liquor without permit. They were produced before the Thane Metropolitan Court on Sunday, but the court refused the police their custody and instead gave them bail.

The party was arranged at a bungalow in the Yeoor hills in Thane. The police got a tip-off from a website known to contain content for gays and bi-sexuals.

As the police got hint of the party, they raided a bungalow owned by one Agarwal and seized liquor. Apart from it, they also arrested six people, including one person from Thane whose name appeared on the website and one of the activists of an NGO working for AIDS. The police said they also recovered condoms.

“Some 87 people had registered with this US-based website. We wanted their police custody to investigate a possible cyber crime, but we are ruling out that as well now,” added Shinde.
