Thapar University students set ramp on fire at Saturnalia 2008

Patiala, March 13 Scintillating models set the ramp on fire on the first day of the annual cultural festival “Saturnalia 2008” that began at the Thapar University in Patiala on Thursday. Noted Bollywood actor Jimmy Shergill was the chief guest on the occasion.

Glitz- the fashion show, was judged by Jimmy Shergill. University students Poonam, Sonam Sharma, Mayuri, Vandana, Shivani, Priya Dubey, Geet, Shivangi looked awesome in western dresses. “Everyone was appreciating our catwalks. It felt so good to behave like models as our lives just revolve around books”, they echoed while talking to Newsline.

The four-day festival will have dance, music, theatre, folk arts, sculpture, fashion shows, and handicrafts. Saturnalia 2008 got more than 2,000 entries from reputed leading organisations from all across north India. This makes Saturnalia one of the largest cultural fest of north India.

University director Dr Abhijit Mukherjee inaugurated the ceremony.

Interestingly, the entire show has been put together by students, who arranged for funds and sponsorships. The Indian Express group has sponsored the event.

Elaborating on the fashion show, Jimmy Shergill said that the show gives ample opportunity to youngsters to showcase their hidden talent.
