Leg Before Wicket
Aussie cricketer Adam Gilchrist seemed quite enthused about Indian fashion. “I am not quite into fashion. It’s usually my wife who looks after what I am going to wear, but I liked what I saw on the ramp. I wouldn’t mind wearing a few of those,” he said, after Raghavendra Rathore’s show. Now that he has given up the flannels, Gilly might next be seen in Raghu’s jodhpurs or sherwanis.
Eye Spy
After enthralling everyone from Paris to Pragati Maidan with his ensembles, maverick Manish Arora is all set to go public with his range of eyewear. At last year’s London Fashion Week, he tied up with the UK-based Inspecs eyewear for a range of sunglasses that scream of his style — irreverent, kitschy and very fashionable. Watch out for the glares that will soon hit the fashion streets.
New Deal
First-timers mostly had a happy outing at the Week. If Azara and Amit GT were thrilled about enquiries coming their way, Mumbai-based Priya Awasthy had a couple of international buyers and NRIs as well as boutiques from smaller centres like Pune and Chandigarh interested in her ethnic designs.
