By now, everyone knows that ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ has under-performed in its opening weekend, so let's not waste time crying over spilt milk. Let's highlight the repercussions a biggie like ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ has on the industry when it falls flat on its face.
As I pen my thoughts, I can't help but recall the various conversations I've had with several prominent distributors and exhibitors over ‘Chandni Chowk To China’. Everyone's unanimous that Akshay Kumar is repeating himself. That he needs to reinvent himself. Enacting similar roles in film after film is only going to take him the Salman Khan and Govinda way. He needs to pull up his socks.
Is his popularity dwindling? Not really, but he needs to take stock of the situation and accept roles that defy the stereotype.
Perhaps, Nikhil Advani, the creator of ‘Chandni Chowk To China’, may not have come to terms with the fact that ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ has nosedived. Most film-makers are in complete denial when their movie fails, at least in the initial days. They feel the world has an agenda against them, the world is out to pull them down. But the Daily Collection Reports [with the distributors] should serve as an eye-opener for all film-makers and also actors who shut their eyes to reality.
The kadwa sach is, ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ has failed and failed big time. Monday onwards, the business has crashed completely.
The failure of ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ should serve as an eye-opener for all producers who sign a star first and hunt for a story later. In this case, Nikhil Advani made a poster first, showed it to Akshay [who loved it apparently] and then wrote the script. Bizarre, isn't it?
The question is, will Warner Bros. lose money on ‘Chandni Chowk To China’? Looking at its theatrical performance in India as also in the key international markets [U.S.A., U.K.], it's certain that ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ will make a hole in the pockets of its investors.
A terrible waste of a terrific opportunity!

'Chandni Chowk to China' should not have left the lanes of Delhi's Chandni Chowk or Ballimaran/Nai Sadak in first place. It's flop- is lesson to the Bollywood, that mere selection of Actors
Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad. According to reports, this man is so busy cutting down the screen time of his co-actors that he has no time to act. Not that he was a great actor anyway, but he had a certain charm which could excuse his mediocre acting skills. Can't blame him. We have seen the total degradation of Amitabh when he became a star. And how he fought back to being an actor again.
absolutely rubbish film to watch
Let me begin by saying that I found CC2C a wholesome entertaining movie. I fail to understand the critics including this stupid IE reporter who are bashing this movie. They are completely biased and are paid to uphold the Khan rule on Bollywood. Why else would they praise Rab Ne Bana Di and cap CC2C? I saw RNBDJ on DVD with my finger on the FFWD button. It is a piece of crap. CC2C is a groundbreaking movie in terms of the actiion sequences, the grand scale and fun value. It is an homage to the great HK martial arts movies.I saw this movie in a house-full theater here and everyone had a great time. It has some of the funniest one-liners and AK's great delivery takes it over the top. And this movie actually moves. From the Red Fort to the Great Wall of China, from galis of CC to the villages of China and busyl streets of HK. The screenplay is tight and the dialogue witty. It also has some of the best special effects I have seen in hindi movies. Its a sure shot winner for me!
I can't comprehend why people in this message board didn't like this excellent movie. I don't normally like Akshay Kumar movies but this one was different. I'll list out the points why I liked this movie.*though a similar role to Singh is king the story is different and set in a refreshingly different setting->China*the jokes were much better than Singh is King.*The kung fu stunts were shot excellently. *The chinese actors were simply brilliant in both the comedy scenes and in the stunt scenes.*It was heartening to see an Indian movie promoting friendship and relations between the two neighbours.I just wonder whether people are being racist here. PLEASE DO WATCH THE MOVIE AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF.p.s. I am in no way linked to this movie.
I just watched the movie and found it to be quite interesting and captivating. I am just totally surprised that the film is being so criticised like that, Chandni Chowk to China has more substance than Welcome and to an extent even Singh is King. Hearing so much critics before watching the film, I thought that it was a senseless comedy film with crap story like Welcome, or Fool and Final. But no, it was entertaining, Akshay Kumar was as usual better than his role in welcome. I wonder why people didn't like the film...Is it because they don't like Chinese ? The film has all, comedy that make you crack up senselessly, and emotions that move you and the second part, steels you for the final confrontation.Weak point:- Too much kung-fu, less romance, anticlimax when they tried some comedy with the final confrontation. they should not have done that.High points:- Deepika Padukone awesome, superb kung fu action
As far as I am concerned The Lord Buddha was not born in India but in Nepal. And overall one of the silliest Hindi movie i have ever seen in my entire life.
i think nikhil advani saab shud take tym out for direction classes.....i give him no credit for Kal ho Naa ho since dere was karan johar involved as well...after that nikil sab gifted two of the biggest disasters in Indian Film History Saalaam-E-Ishk and CC2C
What makes people like such mindless, juvenile crap??
Most rubbish movie... I don't remember seeing such a bad movie in the last 5 or so years... Most people found it like it did - utter nonsense and crappy... We were wondering as to how cheap a person's taste could be to like such a dud!!!
God cursed this movie, my friend, BUDDHA WAS BORN IN NEPAL. not in INDIA GOT IT> history cann't be changed...
The movie was good. Rab ne bana de jodi and Ghajini has nothing new, I watched tons of english movies like that. Movies like the two blockbusters in India would never be nominated for an oscar. I had hope for taare zameen par, but it didn't make it. Taare zameen par was very orginal and an interesting subject as too for rang de basanti. Let's be serious India is not ready for very critical aclaimed movie, but it is making progress recognizing the international trend. Slumdog millionaire is written by an indian and no indian filmaker had the guts to make. It is also time that bollywood should invest in writters because blockbuster movies ar just feel good movies not good stories at all. That's a fact and bollywood should also write good scripts for female actors instead of being discrimitory to women. Hey India is making a boom, use this as a oppertunity to develop bollywood and increase the human and intelligent aspects because India is becoming smarter and better in making choices.
The movie is utter rubbish... Only some people to whom cc2c makers have paid money are saying it is good or your taste must be way too poor.
Dear movie maker,Have u ever heard about GIGO( garbage in garbage Out). This means when yo dont do your home work and just put whatever you want in the move, talking bull shit that great lord gautam buddha was born in india, you know garbage is gonna come out as a result. No wonder why the movie is a super dooper FLOP.dude, do your research. BUDDHA WAS BORN IN NEPAL< NOT IN INDIA.May be next time when you do things right, you might make agood movie.after all this was one of the worst movie i have ever watched in my life.
How the Hell learge movie maker such as Warner's Bro can make such a small mistake!!!!They should have done some research before saying Buddha was born In India...This is piece of shit...I was not expecting this from warner Bro..How would American feel if we start claiming that George washington was born in INdia??
Nothing special in the movie, just an average movie. Second half is good. Can go and see once at your own risk
I have only one message for Akshaya Kumar, another film like CCTC and you will not be among the last 10 heros of bollywood.
realy nice
What a horrible movie!! I agree with all you people... We went into the movie with family because there was so much hype created by Akshay about the movie. He was there everywhere on TV and print trying to promote the movie. We bought into the hype... It was a disaster. I'd taken my family and so all the blame fell on me... They were all cursing me.. Tow of my cousins just walked out of the movie within 30 mts. We somehow sat till interval hoping for something good and since there was nothing but pathetic drama, we all walked out at the interval time to save ourselves from spoiling our day... The theater was almost empty and some people who were there were shouting abuses to Akshay.
Hi im reshma from Mauritius , in my opinion cc2c is a great film
Sorry to diasagree with you,but CC2C is the weakest film of Akshay Kumar.Only saving grace of this movie is Deepika Padukone. She is gorgeous.
Very true! Because of such films Indian Cinema never stands to Hollywood. What a waste of another good opportunity.
The kadwa sach that Aakshay kumar should now realise is that he is in the acting fraternity which demands acting. All his films are minus this and more or less craps. Well, you should make good films and if they have good ingredients they are bound to work . Look at RNBDJ which is winning hearts day by day and that too with the simpleton Surinder sahani in it. It never required anything stupid or gory for this matter to make it an all time record breaker. Akshay kumar, even after 20 years in the industry have not shown us that he can act too.
You've got to be kidding me. RNBDJ was a load of crap! And SRK was a complete waste. I have been an SRK fan and I am shocked he's gone down to this level. He's basically using his fan base of pimpled moron teenagers like you to make loads of money. He's simply cashing in on his popularity. RNBDJ has a one-line story, dull script and lousy acting. I think all the simpletons made it a big hit by watching it every day in the hope that they can also get the girl. Pathetic! Indian movie going audience needs to grow up.
Please dont bring SRK here in the context of great actors or acting skills, as he is only great at Raj and Rahul skills
Shah Rukh can hardly act anyway. So, let's not bring his movie when we need to talk about acting skills.
Bang on target.... The movie sucked so bad that some of us chose to walk away from the theater after watching it for sometime inspite of having paid through our nose for the multiplex tickets... People were boo-ing all throughout... I agree will most people that it is a complete C grade movie... I never expected that Akshay could do any worse than Sing is Kingg... But he outdid himself and this one is even worse...
I told my friends dont compare Akshay and Amir khan with the king sharukh khan, but they did, now its Akshay who fell and next Amir will fall. There is nobody like our king khan, SRK ki jai ho
I think u should think the other way around, comparing the Amirs last 10 yrs versatile Roles with King khan as u call. Amir has lived in those roles if u had seen it, u would not talk like this
This should convey a strong message that people would pay for good stories, even stars like akshay or deepika can fail misrebly if the story sucks.
