While those born on this day are making elaborate celebration plans, equally excited are the would-be mothers who are planning to get a Caesarean operation done on the day so that their children can have this unique date of birth.
The digits 08.08.2008 {26 (2+6 =8)} also add up to 8.
According to city-based astrologers and numerologists, it will be the most memorable moment across the globe when the clock will strike eight seconds past eight minutes past eight on this day — six eights will come together (08.08.08, 08:08:08).
Says 22-year-old Kanchan Gupta, a student of DAV College, Sector 10, whose birthday falls on the day: “It’s once in a lifetime that I will get to see this date on my birthday. I am feeling so lucky. I plan to celebrate it in a different way and have planned a trip to Shimla with my friends.”
At the city’s nursing homes and hospitals, there is no end to the number of pregnant women who are requesting their doctors for a Caesarean on this “lucky” day.
“I was told this is a lucky day. And since this is my ninth month of pregnancy, I have requested the doctors if the operation can be carried out on this day. I am all excited as my baby will have this date of birth which she will cherish throughout his life,” says Dr Daya Sharma, a resident of Sector 34.
“The number 8 denotes Saturn, which represents masses. Those born on this day will be of extremist nature. They will be fanatic in their zeal, will have good leadership qualities and an active public life. They will also be highly successful,” says Madan Gupta Spatu, an astrologer who has done a lot of research on this particular date.
“It’s a very auspicious day and all those born on this day will have a strong aesthetic sense. The number also denotes fortune for them,” says P Khurrana, another astrologer.
There are, however, others who think otherwise. “There is no such thing as lucky or unlucky. Everything depends on the efforts an individual makes in his life. A mere number cannot decide the fate of anybody,” says Megh Raj Mitter, founder, Rationalist Society of India.
