Vadodara, October 24 As elections draw close, reams of anonymous literature in the form of mostly pamphlets and posters have begun surfacing. Nothing new in this except that there’s a difference in their content this time.

The literature, in sharp contrast to those that were floated in the run-up to the 2002 polls, detail the functioning of the Gujarat BJP till date, Narendra Modi's governance and also why Modi should not be voted for.

In 2002, the pamphlets were strongly pro-Modi, Hindutva in nature, vitriolic about the minority community and the Congress.

It is anybody's guess that who could be circulating the anti-Modi literature. It could be BJP dissidents, the miffed Sangh Parivar affiliates or even the Opposition.

Running into pages and written in chaste Gujarati, the literature describes the transition of BJP rule — right from Keshubhai Patel’s tenure to the present day. The pamphlets exhort people to photocopy them and distribute them to as many people as possible.

The charges are written point-wise, more than 50-odd ones, describing how senior Sangh functionaries, the Sangh Parivar affiliates were sidelined by Modi, more so the injustice done to the VHP and Bajrang Dal workers and those partial to Parivar post-Godhra riots.

A little surprising that these literature is turning up with a regular frequency and are being posted anonymously not only in press offices but also seem to have a specific readership in mind. It details not only the sidelining of Sanjay Joshi through the sex CD controversy but also of senior RSS leaders and many other VHP leaders.

Similar anonymous posters had done the rounds during the run up to the 2002 polls as well, but were specifically anti Congress, anti Muslim in nature whipping up the Hindutva passions.

The mood in 2002 was clear exhorting the Hindus to unite.

These letters in great detail allege that Modi and his coterie have used the Hindu votes for personal gains at the cost of destabilising the Sangh Parivar'sp ground work in the state over the past 25 years.

According to a senior BJP leader, such literature could mean two things — either an act of desperation by the political rivals or indicates the change in political mood in the state.
