Chandigarh, March 31 Unitech Limited, which has been awarded the Theme Park project, today submitted its concept plan to the UT Administrator for a final look.

The Theme Park is to come up on an area of 73 acres near village Sarangpur.

While the UT Chief Architect is to give the final approval for the concept plan, the final word on the plan rests with UT Administrator General S F Rodrigues (retd).

According to the concept plan submitted by Unitech Limited, the park will cater to all age groups. The detailed map of the area, which has been prepared by the company, reveals that there will be a Teen Zone, a Family Zone and a Kids Zone. On the recommendation of the UT Administration, the Theme Park will include a Theme Park India Zone. This area will depict the nation’s history and various historic monuments. “It will be a kind of mini-India model, spread over 3-4 acres,” said a senior administration official.

A wax museum, on the lines of Madame Tussaud’s in London, and a water park are also on the cards. The park will see the introduction of glass-bottom boats, a novel concept in the region.

A large chunk of the theme park area will be devoted to hotels, including budget hotels and accommodation for visitors. There will also be a wide variety of restaurants, which will be part of the Retail-Entertainment zone, according to the map.

A mini monorail system and small air-conditioned buses will be introduced for Theme Park tours. According to officials, the administration has asked the compnay for more clarifications, to which the company has agreed.

“We are hoping that Unitech Limited will complete the entire project in around three years. As far as the present circumstances are concerned, we are hoping that the first phase of the park will be operational in around two years and the park will be ready in the subsequent year... ,” said Vivek Atray, Director (Tourism).
