Mumbai, January 22 Leaving his parents behind in a remote village, 25-year-old Jitendra Jog, one of the victims of the Nashik bus accident, went to Mumbai to make it big in life, says cousin brother Anil.

Jog, who hailed from Koena village in Kolhapur, shifted to Mumbai barely five months ago. He dropped out of school in class 7 and helped his father in the fields. His mother is a housewife and his sister got married five years ago.

“He always dreamt of making it big one day and wanted to provide financial assistance to his family,” says Anil.

According to Anil, Mumbai was kind to him. He got a job of painting houses and made number of friends. He was staying at a chawl in Gandhinagar, Worli.

One his friends, Shakti Singh (20), who was a traveling with him in the bus, also died in the accident.

Singh, who hailed from Latur, was in Mumbai since two years to earn money and fame. He worked as a helper in Big Bazaar.

“Both the boys used to stay at a short distance. After the day’s work, they spent their time in each other’s company. Both of them were very simple,” recalls one of the neighbours.

Jog was also a staunch devotee of Sai Baba.

“Last December, he walked to Shirdi barefoot. He had such an immense faith in the God. But today, he died while he was on his way back after visiting the idol he prayed the most,” says Anil.
