Thief escapes from police custody, cop suspended

Panchkula, March 21 Garv, who was arrested by the Panchkula police on March 19 on charges of committing a theft in Sector 8, escaped from the custody of the Crime Branch late on Thursday night.

It was around 1.30 am that Mukesh Kumar, in-charge of the Crime Branch, was informed about the escape by constable Rajbir Singh.

Following the escape, Panchkula Superintendent of Police Sandeep Khirwar suspended Singh and ordered an inquiry in the case.

“Garv, in his twenties and a resident of Mauli Jagran escaped around 1.30 am. He was arrested from Sector 17/18 point on charges of theft,” said Kumar.
