Mumbai, January 15 The young Chembur English School lads literally went through a roller coaster ride in their BEST bus on way to the Azad Maidan where they were scheduled to play Aloysious High School in the MSSA boys under-12 football league match on Tuesday.

Though they started their journey almost two hours in advance, the budding footballers were at the mercy of the city's chaotic traffic. The one hour journey from Chembur to Azad maidan soon became a never ending one. With the clock ticking by, the tension mounted in the bus and their skipper Yami Gholkar later pointed out that, "All of us were getting scared that we wouldn't get to play the match."

But finally they reached the venue about 30 minutes ahead of the stipulated time of 5 pm and played their hearts out. Gholkar, the 11-year-old striker said: "We did a slight warm up and all of us rushed to the ground. Our coach, John Pires asked us to say a prayer and it did us good."

The Chembur outfit entered the ground with three strikers including Yami's twin brother, Prayag Gholkar and Karan Sonavane to get quick goals on the board. The Chembur boys got their goal from Karan Sonavane, who converted a cross he received from Yami from the right flank. However, Aloysious soon restored parity for the match to end in a 1-1 draw.

Though they drew the game, the Chembur boys were not upset and their coach said: "We atleast got one point."

And about no school buses provided to the children, the coach says, "Beggars cannot be choosers. Unfortunately, the school bus was engaged in a school picnic and then the match timings clashed with the primary school students classes. Hence the school could not arrange for one."

So, while their drawn game was taking time to sink in the players, "We were already worried about battling the crowded trains back home," added Yami.
