New Delhi A strike by officials at state-run Indian oil firms has hit operations at three refineries of Indian Oil Corp, a top official at the company said.

A company spokesman declined comment.

The affected plants are IOC's 260,000 barrel per day (bpd) Koyali refinery, the 240,000 bpd Panipat refinery and the 120,000 bpd Haldia refinery, the company source said.

"Cooling down operations have begun at Koyali, Panipat and Haldia refineries. Mathura refinery is working at the moment," the official, who did not want to be identified, told Reuters.

Officials at state-run firms began an indefinite strike earlier on Wednesday, demanding higher wages.
