New Delhi, January 18 As part of its efforts to curb power theft in the Capital, the BSES has heavily penalised three flour mills for power theft of about 232 KW and has cumulatively penalised them for about Rs 1.16 crore.

The three mills — M/s M K Flour Mills ( 73.26 KW of power), S G Flour Mills (85 KW ) and S K Flour Mills (74 KW) are located in Jafferpur area of Najafgarh.

According to a BSES spokesperson, a recent survey showed that many flour mills were stealing power at different hours of the working shifts. An indepth study of the data retrieved from the BSES meters installed on the three sites showed that these flour mills were not functioning during particular hours of the day. Later during inspections, all the three mills were found indulging in direct theft of power by hooking from the nearby BSES LV mains. They would switchover to metered energy during lean periods.
