Three get a year in jail for accepting bribe

Chandigarh, March 7 A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge today convicted three persons found guilty of accepting bribe five years ago, and sentenced them to one-year imprisonment and fine of Rs 9,000 each.

In May 2002, one Gulab Singh, a resident of Ambala, had had alleged that Kamlesh Kumar, assistant, office of deputy chief controller, explosives, demanded a bribe of Rs 1,400 to renew the licence registered in the name of the complainant’s wife.

Following this, the CBI officers laid a trap and caught steno Chandi Ram and peon Jarnail Singh red-handed while accepting the bribe on the directions of Kamlesh.
