Three hurt while trying to escape police naka

Chandigarh, March 16 Three youths riding a motorcycle without helmets were seriously injured while trying to avoid a police checkpost on Saturday night.

The accident occurred at 11.30 pm when Arvind, Ashish and Sumeet were coming from the Sector 16 Stadium Chowk. The three were reportedly shouting when they reached a police naka near Gurdiyal petrol pump. On reaching the post, they panicked and took a sudden U-turn and lost control on the motorcycle. The motorcycle on which the three were traveling rammed into a police car of Sector 11 police station.

All the three were seriously injured with two of them presently admitted at the PGI in critical condition. The third youth is admitted at the GMSH-16.

All the three are the students of the Institute of Tourism and Fashion Technology and were staying in the city as paying guests.

A case of rash and negligent driving was registered against Arvind, who was riding the bike number CH-03-F 1139.
