Thrilling win for Islam Gymkhana

Mumbai, March 16 Islam Gymkhana fashioned a thrilling one-wicket win over PJ Hindu Gymkhana to storm into the semi-finals in the Bombay Gymkhana Cricket Tournament on Sunday.

Batting first, PJ Hindu Gymkhana were 221 all out in their allotted 45 overs, as Pratik Desai struck a quickfire 68 off 75 balls, with Anupreet Singh, Anup Dave and Shoaib Ansari claiming three wickets apiece.

Playing in home conditions, Islam Gymkhana slumped to 55 for three before middle-order batsmen Mukesh Singh (56) and Nasir Khan (30) salvaged the innings and Anupreet Singh came up with a late unbeaten 27 to steer the home team to 224 for 9.

At Islam Gym: PJ Hindu Gym 221 all out in 45 overs (Pratik Desai 68; Mohd. Shoaib Ansari 3-42) lost to Islam Gym 224 for 9 in 43.4 overs (Mukesh Singh 56; Nitin Surve 4-39) by one wicket.

At Bombay Gym: Bombay Gym 157 all out in 41.2 overs (Varun Nayudu 46; Vinesh Raje 4-14) lost to Parsee Gym 158 for 8 in 43.1 overs (Vinesh Raje 45) by 2 wkts.
