The concerns of the Parliament-in-Exile were conveyed by a Tibetan delegation which recently met 37 leaders of political parties including L K Advani, Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, George Fernandes, Sharad Yadav, Ajit Singh and Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.
Seeking steps for peaceful resolution of Tibet issue through negotiation, the delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the Parliament-in-Exile Dolma Gyari told the leaders in New Delhi that the situation in Tibet has not improved even after recent meeting between envoys of the Dalai Lama and Chinese officials.
Tibetans continue to be arrested arbitrarily by Chinese authorities and subjected to harassment, Gyari said in a statement on Tuesday.
She criticised the arrest of reputed Lama Phurbu Tsering and 100 of his supporters in May.
“The purpose of meetings between political leaders and the delegation which took place in Delhi between May 12 and 25 was to express our gratitude to Indian leaders and people for their kind support to Tibetan cause," Gyari said.
