However, most private schools in the city were unaware of any changes in timings. Manvinder Bajwa, Vice-Principal, Bhavan Vidyalaya said, “We have not received any notification from the department. The school will function as usual on Wednesday.”
A host of private schools such as AKSIPS, Sector 41, St Kabir Sector 26, Ryan International, Sector 49, St Joseph’s, Sector 44, Carmel Convent, Sector 9, Vivek High School, Sector 38, etc. were also not aware about the new schedule.
Officials at St John’s said the school will remain open on Wednesday. Sources said that classes for students from Class VI to Class X will be held from 9 am to 2.30 pm. The second shift will be merged with the morning shift till February 10.
Officials said that regular timings will be introduced if the cold wave conditions abate by February 11. Meanwhile, the middle class examination will be conducted on schedule.
Setia said, “This decision was taken on the basis of representations received from parents and students.” A similar representation was also presented by the Government Teachers Union. The GTU president, Vinod Sharma said, “We had taken representation on request of the parents. It has been accepted by the DPI(S), SK Setia.”
