Pawar said an all party meeting, with the support of MLCs and MLAs, will be conducted shortly which will discuss the fund aspect as well.
He said in the meeting, conducted by Delhi Metro Train Corporation managing director E Sreedharan, last month, he was posed many unnecessary questions and the corporators were discussing irrelevant topics.
Last month, Sreedharan, who had prepared a report on the proposed Pune metro, had conducted a presentation of the project before officers and elected representatives at the PMC headquarters. He had said that he could have the metro running through the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad as early as 2014, if the PMC sticks to his plan and steer clear of any build-operate-transfer or public private participation (PPP) models.
He had estimated that the first phase of the project would cost around Rs 9,514 crore and run 31.5 km in two corridors, one from Pimpri-Chinchwad and the other from Kothrud to Ramwadi. He said it included the cost of the land — over 44.43 hectares land, of which 12.68 hecatare is currently under private possession while the remaining is shared among various state and central government departments and the PMC — that the PMC would need to acquire for the project.
