Sultanpur That he is serious in carving a space in Uttar Pradesh for the Congress party at the cost of Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party, Rahul Gandhi has continued his meet-the-masses tour.

AICC General Secretary Gandhi advised a newly-elected village headwoman here to move court if she wanted the CBI to probe her husband's alleged killing.

During a visit to Majwara village in Sultanpur district near his constituency Amethi, Rahul also assured Kamla Devi, who was recently elected the village head, that he will fix her meeting with his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

He gave a patient hearing to the villagers who alleged that Kamla's husband Ram Kumar Yadav was killed by a BSP MLA and his brother last month during the panchayat polls.

When Kamla expressed her desire to meet UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to seek a CBI probe into her husband's death, Rahul personally took down her mobile phone number and assured her of ringing back after fixing the meeting.

While interacting with Rahul, the villagers alleged that the state government was shielding the BSP MLA responsible for Yadav's death and had also given him a clean chit. They also said that the MLA was involved in land grabbing in the village to start a brick kiln.

"I do not have hope from the state government, which has given clean chit to the accused MLA," Kamla told Rahul while the women gathered around him said that due to a threat to their lives, Kamla's three children, all below 12 years of age, could not go to school.

Promising all help to Kamla and her family in future, he said that she should move court, which has the authority to order a CBI probe.
