Several CII members raised issues that have been detrimental to their day-to-day functioning. One of the common complaints was the presence of defunct traffic signals at major crossings. Chakrabarti assured them of looking into the matter.
The CII members also expressed concern over the rise in crime incidents in Kolkata. A participant complained that criminals with police record were roaming freely on the streets. The police chief assured that appropriate action would be taken to curb anti-social elements.
Another issue raised at the meeting was the lack of space for parking cars in the city. To this, Chakrabarti said: “We are planning to introduce new measures like installing closed-circuit televisions at major crossings and monitoring the speed limit on roads such as the Park Circus, Kasba and the EM Bypass connectors.”
