Trader abducted

Ambala, January 1 A rice sheller owner Ashok Kumar was kidnapped by some unidentified persons last night. The incident occurred when he was going to the sheller at Dehar village near Naraingah. According to eye witnesses, the kidnappers also took Kumar’s car along with him. Family members of the trader searched all night and tried his mobile phone, but all in vain. Later, a complaint was lodged with the police. The abductors have demanded a ransom from Ashok’s parents.

Air Marshal P K Barbora took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command today. Commissioned as a fighter pilot in June 1970, he is a very experienced flier and has flown over 3,500 hours. He has also taken part in the 1971 war. He also has the distinction of being part of the team during formation of the first Jaguar Squadron of the IAF and also inducting the Air Combat Simulator into the IA, the first of its kind in Asia.
