The UT Administration is trying to enforce foreign concept here, which is not feasible. During summer, people will be reluctant to cover a long distance to reach the market on foot. Besides, there is no need to convert the existing parking lots of the market into green area, as city is already facing shortage of parking space. It is a wrong concept.
Neeraj Bajaj:
Imposing Western model in Chandigarh is not a practical step, and it is going to ruin our businesses. Sector 17 has always been a major attraction for tourists and residents. Since the customers prefer shopping in bulk, they will not be able to store their articles if parking lots are at a distance of half kilometer.
S K Jain:
It is an illogical step to ban the entry of vehicles and parking lots shifted away from the market. Once the decision is implemented then instead of coming to Sector 17 market the customers will prefer to visit other markets where they will get the facility to park their vehicles near shops.
Subash Ghulati:
It is not the customers alone who will suffer due to the decision of the administration. But the traders will suffer equally as they will have to transport the goods by other means. After purchasing heavy goods such as televisions or refrigerators from the market the customers will find it difficult to carry them to their vehicles.
Ajay Arora:
Once the decision comes in force, the nearest parking lot for the visitors will be near Hotel Shivalik View or the ISBT-Sector 17. Under such circumstances, not many people will like to visit the market, which will definitely affect the business.
