Keeping in mind the increasing number of snatching incidents, people riding black Pulsar bikes remained on the hit list of the UT Traffic Police. Two such bikes were impounded by the police, as its riders failed to produce any relevant documents.
The mobile nakas were also set-up at Sector 24-25 dividing road, which was supervised by Chief Traffic Marshall Wing Commander CS Grewal (retd). Grewal told Newsline that the focus of the traffic police in the coming days would be on the young traffic violators.
“We come across numerous such reckless riders, who not only violate the rules, but also dodge signals at the cost of their as well as the others lives. Today, we initiated steps to check black Pulsar motorbike riders, as, in the recent past many snatchings have been conducted by the riders on such bikes. We also impounded a few today. Lets see if we could catch the criminals like this,” Grewal added.
Special emphasis was also given to booking drivers with unregistered vehicles.
“There had been numerous such instances that came to our notice during the special nakas where the vehicle-owners carried on with temporary registration numbers. We have started booking them as well. In case the driver fails to produce his driving license, we shall be impounding such vehicle,” Grewal said.
