New Delhi, January 9 A court today allowed Andhra Police to take 24 alleged women traffickers and 51 victims on transit remand after they were arrested jointly by the Andhra Pradesh and Delhi Police from a red light area in Old Delhi.

“Keeping in view the gravity of the allegations, five days' transit remand is granted to the 24 raffickers and 51 victims,” Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Alok Aggarwal said after two-hour-long argument by the prosecution and defence.

The court also directed the Investigating Officer to produce all the accused and the victims on January 14 in the court of Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate (AJFCM) Quadri.

Arguing for bail, Mukesh Kalia and others jointly moved an application, stating that the FIR named only six accused who had allegedly allured the complainant, Kumari Laxmi Devi, when she was a minor. The remaining 18 women could not have been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Police.

The accused and the victims were detained for a considerable time at Andhra Bhawan, which was a violation of the court order, before being taken to Nirmal Chaya.
