Kolkata, January 2 A travel consultancy agency owner was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly duping four families of more than Rs 2 lakh. A case of cheating has been lodged against him. Sources said the families were scheduled to go to Bhutan for the New Year celebrations.

Sujit Dutta, a resident of Ballygunge Circular Road, lodged a complaint with the Gariahat police against Siboprasad Roy Choudhury, the travel agency owner, on January 1. The families paid

Rs 2,13,400 in installments. According to Dutta, Choudhury claimed to plan the tour and book the flight tickets through Druk Airlines.

He was supposed to hand over the tickets on December 26 and the families were scheduled to leave on January 1. However, Choudhury failed to provide the tickets, postponing the journey several times.

Police found out that neither the tickets nor any hotel was booked for them.
