Oberoi attack

Mumbai After battling the terrorists for two days at the Oberoi-Trident, the National Security Guards on Friday cleared the hotel of militants, killing two of them while six bodies were recovered from the premises.

"The Oberoi-Trident is now in under our control. The two terrorists holed up there have been killed," NSG Director General J K Dutt said outside the hotel in South Mumbai.

Six bodies were also recovered from the hotel, he said.

The NSG has recovered two AK-47 assault rifles, one pistol and grenades, some unexploded, from the terrorists, he said, adding the explosives will now be defused.

"We are presently sanitising every room to make sure no undesirable elements are there and relief can be provided to guests there," Dutt said.

NSG secures Nariman House, terrorists killed

The National Security Guards stormed into the Nariman House and got full control of the building by killing the armed terrorists. However, the last of the militants holed up in Taj Mahal hotel kept crack commandos at bay engaging them in a fierce gunbattle.

"Five hostages were killed by the terrorists. First floor of the Nariman House is yet to be cleared," NSG DG J K Dutta said.

the burning mumbai by anjan kumar samal on 27 Nov 2008

The security agencies of this nation need to wake up and act for the safety and sovereignty of this nation. How long will the fear of terror continue to rule the mind of each and every Indian? When will a law like POTA impose curbs on these inhuman acts?I suggest a law that prescribes zero tolerance for wiping out terrorism from this soil. There should be no hearing, no trial, but only instant death for these terrorists. It is necessary for all Indians to remain united and alert against such attacks. The attack also unveils the poor preparedness of the Mumbai police ,security agencies,Maharastra government and the govt. of India.

LET JAYA and MODI rule by Karthi on 27 Nov 2008

Terroist Attacks by Ranjith on 27 Nov 2008

This is the Worst Scenario, the intelligence wing has to work harder to avoid such situations happening in India, If the Terrorists have come through boats and landed in Mumbai its by the help of the locals. The Govt has to nail all the locals who are involved in helping the terrorists enter Indian soil.

Firemen on duty by S.Balasubramanian on 27 Nov 2008

While everybody is writing here so many things about the security forces on one seemed to be bothered about the fire men who are doing a slient and wonderful duty. They are the unsung heroes, They are doing three jobs. Dousing the fire, resucing people and are offerring themselves as targets for the terror attacks that too totally unarmed, My salutes to the brave firemen and the fire department, No paper, channel or even the people here have mentioned a word about these heroes and that is really paining

Shame on Govt. by Mudit on 27 Nov 2008

Why the houses of the ministers of state are never being attacked. No minister dies in these attacks. when everything happens then they come for sympathy shame on them. They can only fight over issues like north indians and south indians not more than that. Issues like terrorism and death of innocent peoples has become a part of the day. What's govt doing to save these lives ? Nothing.

Terrorists still inside Taj-Trident; guests trapped by Subadra M on 27 Nov 2008

Our heart goes out to all those innocent people, Indians and foreigners alike, who had to make their ultimate sacrifice because of our inept security apparatus. Shame on this stupid government and its rulers. It is now more than 12 hrs till the terrorists started their attack and God knows how long this "war" is going to last. For God's sake can we call in for help from outside who are capable and who could help save more and more innocent lives are lost. It is so clear that Indians are not in their own country as long as we are governed by total idiots with a stupid and totally inept system.

How could this happen? by Ashwini on 27 Nov 2008

I think we should all applaud the IPS officer, the rescue teams and the commoners, who are helping resolve this ordeal. This is certainly not a time to get into communal blame games and add fuel to the fiery situation. As Indians, no matter what religion or race, it is time to stick together and fight evil. A root cause analysis needs to be done by our officials to understand, why and how our security system failed. The people responsible for these slip ups should be punished severly. How dare they take their jobs for granted?

Terrorist Attack by Mukund Shah on 27 Nov 2008

Mumbai under attack by Siva on 27 Nov 2008

why did the black cat commandos go in to the hotel ? They could kill those innocent terrorists. I think Amar Singh, Arjun SIngh should sell their assets to fund those innocent terrorists, who died in the hotel and who survived.Let us wait for Amar, Arjun and Mulayam.

Stand up to be Counted by Paul Deepak on 27 Nov 2008

Neeta, you are making your children cowards. Look at the ATS Chief and other brave officers and jawans who have died fighting the terrorist bastards. Their sactifice is supreme and their families will be proud of him in the years to come. The 100 odd people who lost their lives are not IPS officers, they are from different walks of life. tommorrow, our future generation could be among those dead not just IPS officers. Selfish and mean people like you make this nation weak.

shame on news channels by ram on 27 Nov 2008

It is real shame that media is hampering the operations the hotels. They should stay back and let the forcers do their. They seem like vultures wanting to sell this news hot to increase their ratings . Least of their problems is the ethics and the safety of security forces in front. I especially point out NDTV.

Incompetent congress govt has no guts to take right and bold decision for the country. Many jokers in pack- Lalu and another stupid Raj Thakre waging internal war.High time we get right leaders to lead this country.

ATS Derail by Raj on 27 Nov 2008

With Hemant Karkare, the upright IPS office who carried unearthed the Malegaon blast nexus with Hindu terroists, out of the way it remains to be seen how far the ATS goes and when it starts toeing the HIndutava line. Easy for these scoundrel politicians to put one of their men as teh ATS chief and give a clean chit to Pragya, Purohit and Pandey.
