Singur protests

Kolkata West Bengal Industries and Commerce Minister Nirupam Sen has accused the Trinamool Congress of creating problems in the state government's land acquisition plans, thus delaying industrialisation in the state.

Addressing reporters after inaugurating the first IT Park in Kolkata, Sen said: "Work on various projects in the state is being delayed because of an anti-land acquisition movement.

"The opposition is unfortunately creating problems in matters of land acquisition that is required for industrialisation. We are trying to sort out these problems," he added.

"We are continuing with the process of acquisitions in different parts of our state--in Durgapur, in Asansol, in Purulia, in Panagarh. All these places, we are already on the process of acquisition, and there is a consensus on this, and, the people are supporting us. Therefore, I think that this process is going on, and we are also providing land for industry also," Sen said.

The Trinamool Congress had last year launched a massive protest against the acquisition of farmers'' land for Tata Motors'' Nano small car plant in Singur village.

Following unending farmers' protests, Tata Motors shifted the Nano project to Gujarat.

Nothing wrong in it by Kannan on 19 Nov 2009

Nothing wrong in it. The Left hampered industrialisation of Bengal for 60 years (both as opposition and rulers) and also the rest of India. Look at Kerala, they have made it a post office economy. Can anyone forget how the Karats blackmailed the Useless Persons in Alliance for five years and insulted a visiting Head of State! Where are they now? Long live Mr and Mrs Karat! Long live Mr Yechury! Long live the old stray dog Basu!

RAILWAY ACCIDENTS by ANIRUDDHA SEN on 19 Nov 2009

our learned friend should remember that mamta bannerjee is in charge for less than 6months. and all this accidents are due to 8-10 years of neglect by lalluprasad jadav, who is actively sabotaging mamta bannerjee's efforts. as she is trying to break the stranglehold of biharis in Railways.. Dont u remember that the very first day she took charge some people in Bihar set fire to trains and stations on some flimsy grounds.,and many such attacks have followed. who do u think is behind all these ? opinions should be formed after correct analysis of facts. Also don't forget the new projects that she has undertaken
