It is the beginning of a good riddance for West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee, flawed as she is (who isn't, anyway?), is the best bet for West Bengal in the near future. For, as this decade has shown, a change of face has not brought about a change of heart, mind or soul for the CPI(M) led Left Front in West Bengal. The degeneration of the political, social, economic and cultural life of West Bengal that has marked the Left Front's rule (though the rot started setting in even earlier during the sixties) must now be left behind and West Bengal led back on the path of recovery to peace, progress and prosperity. Do we need to wait till 2011 for that? Why can't and why shouldn't the state elections be advanced when it is evident from the election results since May 2009 that a vast majority of the people of West Bengal have lost faith in the state government of the day? What does the Constitution of India say in this regard?
