Recently S J Suryah met with an accident during a stunt scene shot in Chennai. During a chase scenes, a car banged into him. He had to be rushed to the hospital in Velachery as he had injured his eyes. After a minor surgery, he was asked to take rest for few weeks. Now he is back to work with the same enthusiasm.

Silambarasan and Prassana were also hurt while shooting for Silambattam in Pollachi and Achamundu Achamundu respectively in the United States. Silambarasan sprained his ankle while performing a dance sequence and was rushed to hospital. He too was asked to take rest for few weeks and hence the shooting had to be cancelled. Prassana got a blow from an iron rod while shooting a stunt sequence. Director Arun Vaidyanathan explained, “We were shooting a stunt scene where Hollywood actor John Shea had to punch Prassana. During the rehearsals everything went on perfect but when actually canning the scene, the two missed the timing. I realised what was to happen as I was watching in the monitor but by the time I could react, John had actually punched Prassana who fell down and yelled ‘cut’. The entire unit was shaken up. However Prassana recovered soon and came for the shot like a real hero.”

Director Vishnuvardhan had planned to shoot at an 11-storey-under-construction building near Gemini flyover Chennai for the Aarya and Trisha- starrer Sarvam. The scene was planned on the top most floor and a make shift elevator was made to carry the shooting equipment. The lift collapsed and two workers were killed on the spot and two others were injured and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Another unfortunate incident happened on the sets of Anthony Yaar. One of the crew member’s finger was severed after a huge equipment fell on his hand. He was taken to the hospital and the shooting had to be cancelled. Tamil film industry has lately been seeing unfortunate incident which even lead to death. These are the alarms for Kollywood to be safe.
