Encounter in Kashnir Valley by Yogi on 02 Jan 2009

What is this terms `army persons killed'. Army consists of `soldiers' and the instant case two of them have laid down their lives when intentionally engaging the terrorists in mortal combat(not killed. people get killed when they are incidentally caught in a violent situation). It is indeed a pity that a correspondent covering army issues can be so ignorant.

Fighting terror by J.M.Manchanda on 02 Jan 2009

Indian security agencies must employ beter methods to reduce loss of lives amongst them. The terrorists, though outnmbered by our personnel, manage to inflict grater casulaties beforthey are eliminated while our forces take on mcuh more in order to reduce colateral damage. Every Indian life should be safeguarded even if it involves blasting the entire area. If we lose half a dozen soldiers in order to eliminate the same number of terrorists, it is a sad situation. We surely need better tactics to finish off the terrorists.

Late, rather than never. by Prem on 02 Jan 2009

We may glorify ourselves, but the truth and crux of the matter is, we have ashamed ourselves by bowing to terrorism for hopelessly long. We have seen blooshed of the innocent starting first in Kashmir, then Punjab, and now the current spate of terror which is extracting a high price from our society. If everything is totalled, then the mortality is perhaps in lakhs, and misery several fold for the remaining family members. This apathy is shamefully an Indian hallmark; we kill ourselves and our brothers in everyday life, everyday. We bow to corruption, which is the mother of those with weak hearts made of stone; we bow to poverty- and a labourer is able to feed half of the rest who are sedentary and contribute little to nation building, and we are blind to our duty of selecting the most able ones as our leaders who can save us in crisis. Year 2009, must and should be different, like the year 1947, when we pledge to stamp out our weaknesses, so as to emerge stronger and wiser.
