Kolkata, April 29 The police on Tuesday arrested two people for allegedly murdering a youth in Howrah.

The body of the deceased, Sourav Das (23), who was a resident of Howrah, was found on Monday morning from an under-construction house at Aprakash Mukherjee Lane.

He had deep wounds on his throat and knees.

According to the police, Sourav had an affair with his neighbour Asha Golui for the last few months.

On Sunday evening, Asha’s brother, Prasanta Golui, a shop owner, and his accomplice Gopia took Sourav to an abandoned building, shared drinks and then murdered him with a sharp weapon.

After the news about 200 irate locals ransacked the house and shop of the accused and police had to bring in the RAF to control the situation.

“Preliminary investigation points out that the boy was murdered for love. We have arrested two persons and further investigations are on,” said Neeraj Singh, Police Superintendent of Howrah.

A police picket has been posted in the area.
