Amritsar, January 20 The district police have suspended two traffic policemen, ASI Prithpal Singh and Head Constable Satnam Singh, on charges of misbehaving with MLA Anil Joshi and "wrongly challaning" one of his supporters at Novelty Chowk area.

The MLA, who staged a 'dharna' today, said he received a phone call from one of his supporters, who told him that he was being wrongly challaned and asked to grease the palms of the traffic policemen. "The young man had parked his four-wheeler on a side before answering his mobile, but the traffic personnel on duty challaned him," he said.

"I have spoken to SSP Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, who reached the spot of dharna," said Joshi.

However, the SSP denied having gone to the spot and said that he had heard about the dharna and the allegations levelled against the traffic policemen. "I will get these charges probed," he said.

SP (Headquarters) Surjit Singh confirmed the suspension of the two traffic policemen.
