Two dead in road accidents in last 24 hours

Chandigarh, February 2 Two people died in road accidents in the last 24 hours.

Paras Ram, a 40-year-old, was run over by a Haryana Roadways bus. The driver, Wazir Singh has been arrested.

The accident occurred opposite Tribune chowk around 2.30 pm on Saturday. Paras Ram, a resident of Ram Darbar, was heading home on his two wheeler when his vehicle was hit by a Hrayana Roadways bus. Paras Ram was reportedly wearing a helmet.

He fell down and his head hit the road.

Paras was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 in a PCR vehicle where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Wazir has been arrested and has been booked on charges of rash and negligent driving and causing death due to negligence.

Paras is survived by his wife and two sons. The postmortem examination of the body will be done on Sunday.

In another incident, one Mahesh was run over by a truck on Friday night.

The driver, said sources, was in an inebriated state and has been arrested. The pillion rider sustained injuries.

Mahesh was riding a motorcycle when the vehicle was hit by a speeding truck at the Sector 3 roundabout late on Friday night around 11 pm.
