Mumbai, February 24 Officers of the Pydhonie police station are on the trail of two unidentified robbers who made off with Rs 45 lakh in cash after threatening two employees of a private company at gun-point on Saturday evening on P D’Mello road between Cotton Green and Reay Road.

According to the police, the complainant is Harish Laxman Gorivale (22), who works as a office boy at steel trading company Efficient Ltd. Gorivale and a colleague named Shashi Jadhav were about to head back to their Pydhonie office in the company car around 6 pm after collecting Rs 45 lakh in cash from a customer’s office at Bharuch Street, Masjid Bunder, when the incident occurred. “As Gorivale and Jadhav were putting the bag containing the money into the boot of the car, they were accosted by two men who threatened them with guns, got into the car with them and told them to drive away,” said an officer at the Pydhonie police station. In the car, the two robbers allegedly snatched the five mobile phones belonging to Jadhav and Gorivale, who was driving. At gun-point, Gorivale was ordered to drive along P D’Mello Road.

According to the statements given by Gorivale and Jadhav, the two armed men then told Gorivale to halt the car near the Ghadge Patil godown between Cotton Green and Reay Road and instructed him to open the boot of the car. One man then grabbed the bag, ordered the driver back into the car, and walked off with the bag containing the cash. The accomplice instructed Gorivale to take the car to Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg at Wadala and halt near the Bhatia High School. He then allegedly bound the hands of Gorivale and Jadhav before walking away in the direction of the Wadala station’s railway crossing, the duo’s statement says.

“The second robber also took away the keys of the car so as to prevent them from following him. It certainly looks like a well-planned robbery. We have taken the statements of the two about the descriptions of the two robbers and are on the hunt for them. However, no arrest has been made so far,” said Police Sub-Inspector Govind Gavit of the Pydhonie police station.
